The Harmony House was a Crucial Step in my Recovery-
I went to rehab for 30-days and then went home to the same environment I had lived (killing myself) in my addiction. I didn't last long. Fortunately, this dog's not too old to learn new tricks. I went back to rehab but this time when I graduated, I went to Harmony House. I realized; when someone is as broken as I was, I couldn't just get out of the hospital and go run a marathon...some physical therapy is required. In this case I'll call it "Holistic Health" or "Learning to Live Life again" therapy...a Crucial Step.
After several months at Harmony House- working on my "living life" skills, in a safe environment- I put myself back in school, got my own apartment, etc. (the next step) ...I started jogging. Now, a few months later, I'm preparing to start my 2nd career/new life; I'm on track to be a certified IT specialist by the end of Summer, and a "Cyber Security Specialist" by the end of the year. I also got my VA home loan approved, and I'm shopping for property...I'm doin' wind-sprints now! And I'll be ready for that marathon...when I'm ready. When I've taken all the proper steps to prepare me for it, so I don't fall down and hurt myself (and everyone around me) again, and again...
It's not a big stretch to say I owe my life to Harmony House for opening their home to me- when most people wouldn't and providing an opportunity for me to make that Crucial next step. You don't need to be a Yoga instructor to make that stretch. Lol. I know- from painful experience, it was absolutely essential for me and, I'm writing this because I believe the same holds true for most.
THANK YOU
Finally, I just have to include; when I stop by the office once in a while- to see if any mail is still floatin' in for me, and Heather or Shanna ask me how I'm doing, and I can tell it's not just a socially appropriate thing to say (ya know what I mean; a politically correct statement, rather than genuine caring question), it's really ineffable (look it up. Lol).
So, thank you Heather, Brad, Stephanie, Shanna, and all my awesome housemates at Harmony House (esp. my roommate (also Jason)- how could you go wrong with a name like that! Lol.) I truly hope any/everyone trying to start over again in life has the same opportunity. It really was a Crucial Step toward what is now a very bright future. Thank you.

I have been living at Harmony House for the past 15 months, and this place has been the safe, comfortable, and foundational environment I needed to rebuild my life. From the moment I arrived, I could tell Brad and Heather have huge hearts. They genuinely care about every resident and are always quick to address any needs or concerns that come up in the house. The HH has been there for me during some of my biggest personal accomplishments over the past year, celebrating my milestones and supporting me every step of the way. Their consistent encouragement and belief in me have made a huge difference in my life. The house itself is spacious and comfortable. We have two big screen TVs, modern appliances, and even a great outdoor area for gardening. Last year, our garden did awesome, and it became something many of us took pride in. Compared to other sober living homes I’ve been in, Harmony House actually feels like a home to me. There’s more than enough space for food and personal storage, and the structure around chores and laundry helps keep everything running smoothly and, it’s secure. Honestly, in 14 months, no real theft has happened here. What stands out most is the success rate. In my experience, the majority of people who stay here actually make it. More than half I’ve gotten to know are still clean and sober, employed, and active in 12-step groups, church, or Celebrate Recovery. We all support each other, keep each other accountable, and there’s been a real sense of brotherhood. Since I’ve been at Harmony House, I’ve become a productive member of society. I now have two great jobs doing social work for local nonprofit agencies, and I’ve been able to return to higher education. Most importantly, I have 15 months clean and sober, and I’ve rebuilt a meaningful life filled with love, confidence, and hope. I’ve repaired relationships with family, built strong bonds with coworkers, my probation officer, drug court team, and many people in the AA fellowship. I have met one of my best friends here. We now do service in AA together at multiple levels, and I currently have a sponsee I’m taking through the steps. My perspective on life has completely shifted. Harmony House gave me the space, accountability, and support I needed to rebuild faster than I ever could have on my own. This has been a true story of redemption. I will never forget the time I’ve spent here. If you're ready to change and adopt a new way of life, it's a perfect place to start

My name is Charles E. I am a recovering alcoholic after I got out of rehab. I got put into another program that in the end didn’t help me out very well. A friend of mine that I went to AA with connecting me to Heather and Brad at the Harmony House. The very first day I called. I spoke with Miss Heather and she immediately was able to help me have a place to stay the very next day. The Harmony House was a great place to be, and it helped me continue to work at my two jobs that I have and allow me to save money to be in the apartment that I am in today. The Harmony House is a place of serenity where everybody uplift everyone and encourages each other to continue to seek out sobriety and stay sober and help out others in need. The Harmony House helped me out when I was in desperate need if it were not for Miss Heather and Brad and the Harmony House family I would not be where I am at today. With the help of the Harmony House I was able to get my own apartment and spend time with my family. If you apply yourself, the Harmony House helps you reach your goals. I can honestly say that I am truly happy that I reached out to Miss Heather and that the Harmony House was able to help me I do not know where I would be if it were not for the Harmony House. I encourage all of those who are serious about their recovery that if you do need a place that will help you stay encouraged make you feel welcomed and completely comfortable with that warm feeling of how a house should feel the Harmony House is the place to go.
